AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

 

On Thursday September 17, 2015 at 9:12 a.m., the Yuma Police Department responded to a call in the 200 block of Ave A. for a report of shots fired.

 

Upon arrival, Officers searched the area and located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.  The victim was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

 

The case remains under investigation.

 

The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with any information about this case to please call the Yuma Police Department at (928) 373-4686 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous. Remember if your information leads to an arrest you may receive up to a $1,000 cash reward.

 

 

 

ENDANGERMENT/D.U.I.

Yuma, AZ –

 

On September 16, 2015 at 4:01 p.m., Jose Antonio REYES ARIAS was south bound on 1st Avenue when his unsecured 9 year old grandson fell out of the vehicle.

 

REYES ARIAS was slow to stop and to exit the vehicle. A retired paramedic was in the area and saw the child lying in the street and attended to him. The child was transported to YRMC in stable condition pending CT scan. REYES ARIAS was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center.

ABOUT JENNIFER:

 

Jennifer hails from Southeastern Arizona … Safford to be exact!  She was born and raised there and has only lived one other place besides Yuma (that was Pecos, TX when she was 7!)  Jennifer got her start in radio working weekends at KATO/KXKQ in Thatcher, AZ.  In 1993, Jennifer relocated to Yuma to be with her husband, Jeff (a native Yuman!) The two have been married since 1994 and they have a son, Jace, who attends Yuma High School. Jennifer started working for Uno Broadcasting in 1993, then moved over to Commonwealth Broadcasting  where she worked for the former KYXI and KYJT (The Jet). In 1997 she made the move over to KJOK and KEZC which are  now Z93 (KLJZ 93.1 FM) and Outlaw Country (KCYK AM-1400).  From 1998 to 2005 Jennifer was the co-host and Producer of “The Talk of Yuma” show on KJOK, then became the News Director for both stations in 2005.

In her spare time Jennifer loves photography, watching comedies, traveling to the mountains and spending time with family and friends. 

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM HITS YUMA COUNTY

APS is distributing free blocks of dry ice to residential customers in the Yuma and Somerton areas who remain affected by power outages. Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, customers can go to Yuma Fire Station #3 located at 508 E 25 St. to pick up dry ice to help preserve perishable foods.
Please bring plastic bags or a cooler and gloves if you have them for safe handling of the ice.
